Indian winters are not Arctic — layer smart, not heavy

Most of India does not need a down jacket. Delhi in January sits between 5–15°C. Mumbai rarely drops below 18°C. The challenge is not extreme cold — it is temperature swings. A morning that starts at 8°C and hits 22°C by noon needs layers you can add and remove, not a single heavy coat.

The three-layer system

Layer 1: Base — a graphic tee

Start with a 240 GSM Supima cotton tee. It sits flat against the body and provides a clean base. Picks: TRINETRA, AHAM BRAHMASMI, SUNYA.

Layer 2: Mid — a sweatshirt or shirt

The mid layer adds warmth without bulk. A 240 GSM sweatshirt (CREW, DRIFT) or a structured shirt (GULABI, VINELET) works here.

Layer 3: Outer — a hoodie

The hoodie is the statement piece. 320 GSM fleece (MOKSHA, FUSION) provides warmth and structure without looking overdressed.

Three combinations that work

  1. TRINETRA tee + CREW sweatshirt + MOKSHA hoodie — the complete stack for 5–10°C mornings
  2. SUNYA tee + GULABI shirt — enough for 15–20°C with style
  3. AHAM BRAHMASMI tee + HAVEN hoodie — two-layer for 10–15°C
