The ₹3,000 question
Is it possible to buy genuinely premium streetwear — substantial fabric, considered construction, original graphics — for under ₹3,000 in India? The honest answer: yes for most of a wardrobe, but not for all of it. Heavyweight winter layers sit above that line, and a guide that pretends otherwise is either cutting the cloth or rounding the truth.
Why an import price tag is not a quality signal
A large share of what you pay for imported streetwear never touches the garment. Licensing, import duty, distributor margin, retail floor space and brand premium all stack on top of the cloth before it reaches you. Strip those layers out and the same money buys more shirt.
THE SUNYA sells direct and online only — no distributors, no retail floor to fund. That is the whole of the pricing story, and it is worth stating plainly rather than dressing it up with manufacturing arithmetic nobody can check.
What THE SUNYA actually costs
The catalogue runs from ₹1,199 to ₹3,999 across 110 products. The great majority of it — polos, cord joggers, t-shirts and the woven shirts — sits under ₹3,000. Hoodies and sweatshirts do not.
Under ₹3,000
| Category | Price | Fabric | Sizes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Knit polos (48) | ₹1,549 | Fine-gauge structured cotton knit | M–XL |
| Cord joggers (6) | ₹1,549 | Fine-wale corduroy, 250 GSM, soft-washed | M–XXL |
| T-shirts | from ₹1,199 | 240 GSM cotton — French Terry or cotton terry lycra | XS–XXL |
| Zodiac shirts (12) | ₹1,949–₹2,549 | Premium blended oxford cotton, non-iron with natural stretch | M–XXL |
| Camp-collar shirts | ₹2,599–₹2,999 | 240 GSM banana fabric | XS–XXL |
| Velmoré quarter-zip polo | ₹2,599 | 220 GSM Cotrise | XS–XXL |
| Corddrill zip overshirt | ₹2,599 | 220 GSM Cotrise | XS–XXL |
Two caveats before you filter by price. Most t-shirts land between ₹1,199 and ₹2,599, but three archive graphic tees are ₹3,599. And the knit polos are graded M–XL only — if you need XS or XXL, the tees, the camp-collar shirts and Velmoré carry the wider range.
Above ₹3,000
- Hoodies — ARANYA at ₹3,199, a short-sleeve half-zip in 280 GSM French Terry; ĀRAMBH, FUSION, SPIRIT and NEXUS at ₹3,999 in 350 GSM cotton fleece.
- Sweatshirts — MAUN and HAVEN at ₹3,999, both 350 GSM cotton fleece. HAVEN is a quarter-zip funnel-neck; it has no hood.
- MOKSHA and BLAZE — ₹3,599 each. Both are 240 GSM banana-fabric camp-collar shirts, not hoodies.
Heavyweight fleece is where the money goes. At 350 GSM you are buying close to three times the cloth of a summer tee, and it is the one category where the under-₹3,000 rule genuinely breaks.

How to judge value at this price
- Weight, stated in GSM. A brand that publishes the number has measured it. 240 GSM is a substantial tee; anything unlabelled is usually lighter than it looks online.
- The fabric named, not implied. "Premium cotton" means nothing. "240 GSM French Terry cotton" or "fine-wale corduroy, 250 GSM" is a specification you can hold the garment against.
- A size grade that actually fits you. It varies by category — M–XL on the knit polos, M–XXL on the zodiac shirts, XS–XXL on the tees. Check the product page, not the brand's blurb.
- Finish claims you can test. The zodiac shirts are non-iron with natural stretch. That is a claim that either survives the first wash or doesn't.
